Our Lady of Guadalupe...

"I am the ever-virgin Mary, Mother of the true God who gives life and maintains its existence. He creates all things. He is in all places. He is the God of Heaven and Earth.
I desire a church in this place where your people may experience my compassion.
All those who sincerely ask my help in their work and in their sorrows will know my Mother's Heart in this place. Here I will see their tears; I will console them and they will be at peace. Call me and call my image Santa Maria de Guadalupe."

Peace and Justice Ministry

The Peace and Justice Ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe is made up of people passionate about the Gospel call to transform our world into a community that recognizes and respects the dignity of all persons and all of creation.

Our meetings give people, who are working on peace and justice issues, an opportunity to network with one another, share information, learn from and support each other.

To raise awareness of the Catholic Church’s Social Teachings and how those teachings can be lived out, the Peace and Justice Ministry has sponsored a number of events in the parish:

•“A Peace of Our World” an evening when a number of people shared slides of their experience in a different culture

•Fast for Peace

•JustFaith program in its fifth year

•Ghandi Film and Dept. of Peace documentary

•Catholic Values Reflection pre-election

•Justice Spirituality Book Club

Members of the Peace and Justice Ministry are also involved in a variety of projects in the larger community:

•Living Wage Coalition of Sonoma County

•Coalition of Churches in Windsor, managing a new transitional Housing Facility called Jacob’s Ladder, helping poor families transition to stable housing

•North Bay Sponsoring Committee, which helps community members develop organizing skills

•Trip to Mexico building houses

•Patchworks Farm, promoting earth friendly education
